Three from Delectus
This week we visit Delectus Winery’s new estate in the Knights Valley Appellation. After we check out the vineyard, winemaker Gerhard Reisacher shares three great wines with us: his 2005 Napa Valley Merlot, 2005 Napa Valley Petite Sirah, and 2003 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon.

2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville
Tasting Notes
A tantalizing and elevated nose expresses aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, dustiness, cayenne pepper, huckleberry, fresh tree bark, rosehip, and blood orange pulp. The mouth has a rolling body, the core is refined and firm, and tannins are soft and elegant. An extremely long mouth-feel with a lingering and satisfying finish. What a pleasure! (03/08)
2005 Merlot
Tasting Notes
Aromas of cinnamon, cherry, marionberry, and white pepper fold into dried cranberry, banana-nut bread, and dark chocolate. The palate is round and vivacious and is filled with orange zest, vanilla bean and mineral. Full-throttle, powerful yet elegant, with a long velvety finish. Stellar! (02/08)
2005 Petite Sirah
Notes coming soon.

Nice to see Gerhard featured on your site. As a wine tour guide I’ve been
to Delectus 9-10 times and my clients are always impressed with the wines, frequently buying multiple cases. I prefer the petit sirah but I like everything I’ve tasted there. The Cuvee Julia blend sells out almost immediately so get some if you can.
Gerhard, Linda and the rest of the staff are very welcoming, they don’t have a big fancy winery, but the tasting experience they provide is fun for both wine experts and amateurs.
Bob, you are right - they are fantastic people and it’s impossible not to love the wines.
